Babies bring about the ultimate joy in life while also being the root of most of your anxiety as a parent. It always seems like no matter how much preparation you do, there’s always something you didn’t think about or something the baby books didn’t cover. But don’t worry, that’s all apart of the parental experience.
When you really need to get prepared is when your babies get on the move. As soon as your little one learns to crawl, there is a whole world of new exciting things for them to discover, touch, and chew on. It’s important to make sure your home is properly secured and baby proofed so that your baby doesn’t get injured on their new adventure.
Here are some of our top tips for baby proofing the home:
Outlet Covers
Electrical outlets are at the perfect height for a crawling or walking baby, and with everything else in their eyesight, they’re going to try and put their fingers in them or even other objects. To prevent this from happening, make sure that you install outlet covers on all of the outlets within reach of your little one.
Secure Cords
If you have an exposed cord connecting your TV or large speaker to an outlet, make sure those cords are secured. You don’t want your little one to pull the cord and send the TV toppling down.
Keep Appliances Out of Reach
It’s always important to keep items like hairdryers, and speakers away from the sink or bath, but even more so when you have a baby crawling around. They’ll reach for anything, not knowing that the cord they just pulled into the bathtub is plugged in.
